This page is used to create and maintain animal species details to be used in ethics applications. Information about a species can include the scientific name, common name, classification, category and type of the species.
Menu path: RME menu > Ethics > Species Search > Species
1. In the RME Menu, select Ethics > Species.
2. In the toolbar, click the New button.
3. Complete the fields, using the table below as a guide.
4. In the toolbar, click Save. To go back to the previous page, click it in the breadcrumb trail or use your browser Back button.

Category for the species, from a defined list |

Species type, from a defined list based on the selected Animal Category |
Classification |
Classification for the species, from a defined list |
Common Name |
Name of the animal that is used in everyday conversation, for example, mouse |

Yes by default Indicates if the species is in use and can be used in an ethics application If the species is no longer in use, slide this to No. |
Scientific Name * |
Mandatory Scientific name for the species, for example, Mus musculus (for mouse) |
Species Code |
Unique code to identify the species record This can be configured to allow the users to enter a value manually, or to auto-generate the code in User Code Configuration. |
You manage core records from the module search page, Results tab. Select records in the grid and select the New, Delete and Export buttons on the toolbar in Species search.
