Fund Scheme Level Variations (ReCaP)

This page supports ReCaP, available in RME versions since 2018. A revised Costing and Pricing Tool was implemented in version 7.7.0 in mid-2021.

This page is used to set different rules for a fund scheme when university-level funding rules are not the right fit for a particular fund scheme. You can set rule variations for different fund schemes.

If a fund scheme variation is set, it will generally override the university-level default values. Note that for a few, project-level rules may take precedence. For details, see Rule precedence.

To view existing fund scheme rule variations, click a fund scheme listed in the grid.

Menu path: RME menu > Projects > Funding Rules (ReCaP) > Fund Scheme Level Variations

Add and configure a fund scheme-level rule variation

Fund Scheme Level - Variations: Fields

Field

Description

Apply Infrastructure Cost Variance

Indicates whether to set different infrastructure costs related to the location for activity of projects to those at the university level

If Yes, the fields to the right for Infrastructure Cost - Laboratory/Field Work % and Infrastructure Cost - Non-Laboratory/Desk Research % will become editable. For definitions for these fields, see the table for the University Level.

warning-icon Any applicable project level rule set for infrastructure cost will override this rule.

Apply Variation for Salary On-Cost

Indicates whether to set different infrastructure costs to those at the university-level

If Yes, the fields to the right for On-Cost % for Staff > 12 Months and On-Cost % for Staff <= 12 Months will become editable. For definitions for these fields, see the table for the University Level.

External Salary Category

External salary package, from a defined list

In Research Costing and Pricing (ReCaP), this will add an External Salary Package field and a separate External Cost calculation button in the Project Team pages in the salary section.

External salary calculation is separate to the team salary calculations, and is designed to serve as guideline only, and allow users to distribute the total cost for each fund scheme based on an external salary package. ReCaP will still use the Total Salary to generate the costing output.

External salary groups are defined as categories in RME > Setup > Categories > Person Related Categories > External Salary Groups. To set up an external salary group, you need to set up a) a category sub-group under this parent group, b) a category for it, then c) add items to this category for the levels.

Salary rates for the external salary group levels are added in the RME Salary Rates (ReCaP) configuration page: RME > Projects > Salary Rates

Infrastructure Waiver Exempted?

Indicates whether to apply the infrastructure costs (both lab and non-lab) defined in the university level rules

If you don't want to apply university level rules, slide this to Yes.
