This related item is used to capture the relationship between org. units. The relationship can be of an administrative type or a data link type.
• An administrative link represents the reporting parent org. unit and security access.
• A data link represents security access to the org. unit only.

Menu path: RME > Setup > Org. Units (Search) > Org. Units > Org. Unit Relationships
1. In the Org. Unit record for the parent org. unit, go to the Org. Units Relationships related item.
2. At the far right of the related item, click Add.
3. In the Child Org. Unit Code field, use the lookup to search for and select the subordinate org. units that will sit under the selected parent org. unit.
4. If the parent
org. unit is an administrative parent for this child unit, in the Administrative Unit? field, slide
it to Yes. Only one administrative
link can be created for a child org. unit.
If this is No, the relationship
between the two units will be a data link type, meaning that data can
be accessed for the linked org. unit but that all administrative tasks
will default to the org. unit with the administrative link.
5. In the toolbar, click Save.
The Faculty of Arts has the following schools: the School of Arts, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the School of Philosophy. Each of these entities is created as an Org. Unit in the system.
The Faculty of Arts is considered the 'parent' record to the three schools ('child' records). In this case, in its record, it would list all the 'child' org. units and each would have an administrative link between it and the Faculty of Arts. All administrative tasks will default to the org. unit with the administrative link.

A user in the system has the Faculty of Education as their defined org. unit but needs to see all records with the School of Humanities org. unit. There are two ways to enable this:
1. Add School
of Humanities as a data link to Faculty of Education (add as a child org.
unit but do not set
Administrative Unit? to
Yes).
This allows every user that belongs to Faculty of Education to see every
record for School of Humanities as well.
2. Add School of Humanities to the User record, User Org. Units related item. This allows individuals with this setting to see every record belonging to the School of Humanities org. unit.
You manage related items in the core page. Click the Add, Delete and Export links at the right of the related item in Org. Unit. Deleting an org. unit from the related item summary grid will unlink it.
