This page, formerly called the "HTML Editor", allows you to configure these elements of the user interface across the system:

        The system header and footer shown on every page in RME to reflect your institution's terminology and branding.

        Noticeboard widgets on dashboards.

        The Public Porta header and footer, if used.

Define or edit a component

You can add or edit a component at any time. You can only edit one component at a time.

1.     From the RME menu, select System > Custom Content.

2.     In the Component dropdown, select the component you want to work on. Options are:

Option

Description

Global Noticeboard

A dashboard widget used to communicate static information and messages for all RME users in your institution

Header

The header shown at the top of every RME page

You can add HTML text and format the text using the options in the toolbar.

Note: You may need to reset, for example, IIS reset, to see your changes.

Footer

The footer shown at the bottom of every RME page

You can add HTML text and format the text using the options in the toolbar.

Note: You may need to reset, for example, IIS reset, to see your changes.

Researcher Noticeboard

A dashboard widget used to communicate static information and messages for researchers (this is not linked to a role; it can be added to a dashboard for researchers)

Student Noticeboard

A dashboard widget used to communicate  static information and general messages to students

It allows for the insertion of the Coursework Census Date and Research Census Date, if these fields are used. Insert these fields via the Insert a data field icon at the end of the toolbar.

Portal Header

Only if Public Portal product key is applied

The header shown at the top of the Public Portal

You can add HTML text and format the text using the options in the toolbar.

Portal Footer

Only if Public Portal product key is applied

The footer shown at the bottom of every Public Portal page

You can add HTML text and format the text using the options in the toolbar.


3.     In the Editor field, add or edit the content. This can include text, links and images. When editing, a text editing toolbar offers a variety of editing and formatting options. For details, see: Text editing toolbar

4.     To make the component available for users, slide the Enabled? flag to Yes.

5.     In the toolbar, click Save. If you don't want to save it, click the Reset to default button on the toolbar to return to how it was before you made changes.

6.     To see your changes in RME, you may need to clear your browser cache, for example, by selecting <Ctrl> + F5.

 

Hide a component

If you don't want users to see a component, hide it by disabling it; view the component and slide Enabled? to No.
