This related item is used to record and manage the research project’s funding using linked fund schemes. A fund scheme can be external or internal to your organisation. You can record information about external funding bodies, internal funding, funding application, periods of funding and funding amounts per year.
Auto-creation of Organisation related item
Automation can be enabled for Fund Scheme and Organisation related items in a Project record in System Preferences, Project Preferences for your institution.
If enabled, when a fund scheme that has an organisation linked to it is added to this Fund Scheme related item via the lookup (not as free text), a linked Organisation related item is automatically created if it does not already exist. If there is no previously-linked primary organisation, the new organisation will be set as Primary.
It is advisable to add fund schemes to the Project - Fund Scheme related item before adding organisations to the Project - Organisation related item to avoid duplication. If an organisation is added before the fund scheme it is linked to, a second Organisation related item may be created with the Fund Scheme Link field populated with the fund scheme.
If disabled, Organisation related items will not be automatically created. Any organisations related to the project need to be added manually.
Dependency between Fund Scheme related items and Organisation related items
The list of fund schemes displayed in the Project - Organisation related item in the Fund Scheme Link dropdown can be filtered to display only those fund schemes added to the Project - Fund Scheme related item. This is controlled by a setting in System Preferences, Project Preferences.
Menu path: RME menu > Projects (search) > Project > Fund Schemes
1. In the Project record, open the Fund Scheme related item.
2. At the far right of the related item, click Add.
3. In the Fund Scheme Code field, select the fund scheme. Fund scheme details from the Fund Scheme record will be populated in relevant fields.
4. Complete the fields, using the table below as a guide.
5. In the toolbar, click Save. To go back to the previous page, click it in the breadcrumb trail or use your browser Back button. The Fund Scheme Budget related item becomes available to record the amounts funded each year by this fund scheme for the project, if required.
