This page is used to configure filters for Costing and Pricing Tool (CPT) outputs, which control outputs shown for selection for a project in CPT. You configure filters based on the project type, fund scheme and/or org. unit (AOU), then select the outputs for each filter.
You can also set outputs to display for all projects (Show in All Applications?).
You can further control access to reports by role permissions.
This page supports the Costing and Pricing Tool (CPT), which was implemented in version 7.7.0 in mid-2021. Research Costing and Pricing (ReCaP) is a separate tool.
Menu path: RME menu > Projects (search) > Project > Funding Rules > Output Configuration
• Outputs are first created as reports in the Report Designer function of RME Designer.
• Output reports are assigned to relevant roles so that users can view them. See: Control access to outputs via role
This summary grid shown on the Funding Rules page on the Outputs Configuration tab displays the current filters defined for CPT outputs.
Default Column Name |
Description |
Project Type |
Type of project selected in the filter rule |
Fund Scheme Name |
Name of the fund scheme selected in the filter rule |
Org. Unit Name |
Name of the organisation unit (AOU, sometimes called "Department" or similar, if customised) selected in the filter rule |
Show in All Applications? |
Outputs that will display in CPT for all project applications regardless of fund scheme, project type or org. unit |
1. Create, name
and publish an output as a report in the Report Designer function of RME
Designer using the Costing and Pricing Tool module.
You can create both reports and costing and pricing outputs for different
purposes, funders or stakeholders with CPT data. The default reporting
view is RMRV_CPT. A default report for Project Summary is provided as
an example, which includes the details from the CPT Project Summary page.
For naming, consider including the name of the fund scheme organisation
(if used) if there is any possibility of confusion with other outputs.
As an example, if a fund scheme has more than one organisation, you may
name one output Report A for ABC company, and another Report A for XYZ
company to distinguish them clearly.
You can also design different layouts to suit various purposes or requirements.
For example, to report to government bodies, you may need to use a particular
layout and set of data. You define what is required in the output report
and design the layout to suit the requirements. For details, refer to
the RME Report Designer Guide and RME Reporting Views, Costing and Pricing
Tool – Staging.
2. From the RME menu, go to Projects > Funding Rules > Output Configuration.
3. On the toolbar, click New, unless you want the output to be listed in CPT for all project applications, in which case go to Set an output to show for all projects below.
4. Define the
filter to control when the output should be shown to users in CPT by selecting
an option from one, or a combination, of the dropdowns across the top:
Org. Unit (sometimes called "Department"
if customised), Project Type and
Fund Scheme. Use the descriptions
in the Output Configuration (New): Fields table below as a guide.
* At least one option must be selected.
* The combination must be unique.
5. In the Select Outputs section, select one or more outputs.
6. In the toolbar, click Save. To go back to the previous page, click it in the breadcrumb trail or use your browser Back button.
7. The new output displays in the grid in the related item.
8. Assign access to the output via Roles. See: Control access to outputs via role
What happens next?
In CPT, an Outputs button displays in the toolbar across the top of each page. When clicked, a list of published and current outputs is displayed, based on a) the filter configuration, b) the project type, primary fund scheme and/or org. unit of the project eForm application, and c) access to the output report allocated to the user's role.
Users can select from the list to view the PDF output. This can be saved or exported to an XLS format or any other standard formats supported by the viewer used to display the report.

Org. Unit |

Select Outputs * |
Mandatory List of outputs you can select for the filter rule Select at least one. You can select others in
the list if the filter is also relevant for them. Any output configured to show for all project applications are displayed at the top, highlighted in blue and ticked as selected to indicate that it is a common output shown for all projects. |
If you want an output to display for all projects in CPT, follow the steps below:
1. Create the output as outlined above in Add a new filter for an output.
2. From the RME menu, go to Projects > Funding Rules > Output Configuration.
3. In the summary grid on the Output Configuration tab, there is one item row with a tick marked in the Show in All Applications? column. This item is for all outputs that will display in CPT for all project applications. To open this, click the Open icon. This item cannot be deleted, it can only be edited. If no outputs have been selected it may be blank.
4. Select the
output from the list.
Rules:
• You can select more than one if needed but be aware that once an output is selected to show for all projects, it will be removed from any other filter in which it may have been selected.
• It will only be shown under this Show in All Applications? item.
• It cannot be selected for a new filter. It will only be listed in the top highlighted section of a filter record to indicate that it is a common output shown for all projects.
• If you de-select an output from the Show in All Applications? item, it will not appear in the summary grid as it is no longer selected for any filter. You need to add it to an existing or new filter.
To control access to CPT outputs based on role so that only authorised users can access them, update the Report Role Access related item of relevant Role records (Users > Roles > Report Role Access).
When the Costing and Pricing Tool product key is applied, the Costing and Pricing Tool option is available in the Module dropdown. It is not enabled by default.
You can assign one or more published CPT output reports for the Costing and Pricing module to one or more roles.
